Since coming third in BBC1's I'd Do Anything in 2008,
Samantha Barks has enjoyed success that she could once only dream of. After the show she has starred as Nancy in the touring
production of Oliver!, appeared in the stage and film versions of Les
Miserables, and has recently started dating David Gandy.
The 22-year old spoke to Glamour Magazine about her rise to
fame, and revealed that her life changing moment came when she was least
expecting it. 'I was on stage playing Nancy in Oliver! and the producer
announced to a live audience that I’d got the part in Les Mis. My life changed
forever, right there,' she says.
Samantha went on to play Eponine in the stage version of Les
Miserables, a character described as having "the form of an unripe young
girl and the look of a corrupted old woman; fifty years joined with fifteen;
one of those beings who are both feeble and horrible at once, and who make
those shudder whom they do not make weep."
The Isle of Man born actress did such a sterling job at
portraying the hateful girl that when the famous musical got the Hollywood
treatment, she was cast.
'The roles are so iconic; I’d played Eponine in the stage
version for almost a year, so I wanted to do her proud,' she says.
Samantha also reveals that for future roles, she's ready to
be more physical on set.
