Na wa o, i cant even believe this kinds of things still happen in some Nigerian societies and we are supposed to be in the 21st century. Here is wat really happened;
The Umuoji community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State beat up a man of God namely Reverend Jude Chibueze, and sealed off his church for killing a snake.
Chibueze when asked said the snake stormed his house at night when members of his family were already sleeping. He said he heard his children screaming and rushed there to find a snake lying where his children had been sleeping. Chibueze said he killed the snake and threw its remains in a nearby bush, but was surprised when some members of the community stormed his house, alleging that he had desecrated the land by killing the snake, which is regarded as their god. The reverend said he was beaten up mercilessly, and given a list of items amounting to N54,890 which the community members said he should buy to appease their god.
Am even more surprised at the way some Nigerians responded to this, someone even said i quote " Nigeria government must first get that Christian Haram who called himself pastor arrested to face the law for infringing on Animal right". and another had this to say "i love what the people did, we must keep to tradition, the bible or kuran has never change our live in Africa here we are just deceiving ourselves, the man must pay, protect the wildlife". I really wonder if this people just lack sense of judgement and understanding or are just being stupid.
