Dolce & Gabbana Stand a Two Year Jail Sentence in Tax Evasion Trial

In the ongoing tax evasion trial of designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Prosecutor Gaetano Ruta called for a stringent 2½ year jail sentence for the designers during his closing arguments. Ruta also called for D&G board member Cristiana Ruella to receive the same judgment.
Dolce and Gabbana, along with several of their business associates, are currently on trial in Milan for tax evasion to the tune of €420 million. The case stems from the 2004 sale of Dolce & Gabbana and the diffusion line D&G to a holding company based in Luxembourg that is also owned by the designers. Italian authorities allege that the holding company is merely a strategy for Dolce & Gabbana to avoid paying higher corporate taxes.

Winnie Mandela in debt

"This shouldn't be happening" -- these were the words of a visibly nervous and frustrated sheriff of the court as he rang the outside bell and knocked at the gate belonging to a woman still considered by many in South Africa as the "mother of the nation."
Joe Maluleke and two other officials arrived at Winnie Mandela's house in Soweto on Tuesday to execute a court order granting a Johannesburg school permission to auction her belongings and pay an old debt. Among the goods meant to go under the hammer were 50 paintings, a round table, chairs and a silver tea set.
The problems started when the ex-wife of Nelson Mandela, the country's first black president and an international icon, registered her great niece, Nobantu Vutela, as a boarding student at Abbotts College in Northcliff, Johannesburg, according to court papers filed in 2008.

World's second-oldest man known dies at 113

Do 41,363 days sound like much time? You very likely won't live that long, but James Sisnett did.
He was three years old the first time Orville Wright took the first ever flight in an airplane and barely a teenager when World War I broke out.
When he died Thursday, Sisnett was the oldest man in the Western Hemisphere, whose age had been validated, according to the Gerontology Research Group. He was likely the second oldest man on the planet. Thats just awesome, heard he was a celebrity on the island of Barbados has he was used as a reference to historic event often callled by his nick name GRANDAD. Also heard the government is making the stadium available for his funeral. Now that should be a celebration of life indeed.

STUDENTS AND THE IMPORTANCE OF THE INTERNET

The Internet has become a standard fixture in the lives of many people, with communication being one of its most popular uses. Several mediums-such as electronic mail (e-mail), group mailing forums, interactive games, and real-time chatting-provide users with communication opportunities. Through extended communication on the Internet, many users have formed relationships with others online. Several aspects of the Internet medium interact to make the course of relationship development online differ from offline development. The Internet is still a rather uncharted area in terms of psychological research, especially in the field of online relationship development. This research examined college students' Internet use, relationship formation, and personality characteristics. No differences were found between participants who did and did not form new relationships online. However, differences were present within the group that formed online relationships, such as ease at finding similar others online as well as differences in social skills and loneliness scores. This calls for a reexamination of previous hypotheses regarding individuals who form relationships online.
